Shawn studied and received certification at the Guild for Structural Integration in Colorado and Brazil in 1990 with the late Emmett Hutchins. He was hand picked by Dr. Rolf to transmit and teach her work, and was considered one of the finest teachers in the field. She also studied with the late Stacey Mills who was considered the Grande Dame of the early days of the work. Since then Shawn has been studying with David Davis, Will Johnson and Ritchie Mintz. Masters in their own right.
Shawn completed her degree in Physical and Health Sciences at the University of Toronto in 1989. During that time she trained and competed nationally in one and three metre springboard diving. It came naturally from previously training and competing in regional gymnastics for 5 years. She played high school basketball, and competed in high jump and javelin.
Her extensive experience in athletics, dance, Judo, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Sensory Awareness movement, Authentic movement, Vajrayana Buddhist meditation, Gestalt Therapy, West African Djembe drumming and Indigenous healing arts all play into her ability to create an environment that facilitates profound change and deep healing.
Shawn is dedicated to furthering the evolutionary work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf, and continues ongoing studies in advanced Structural Integration. Recently, she began the teacher training program at AGSI (www.rolfguildusa.org) with David Davis, and plans to begin teaching basic training in the near future. She is board certified with the International Association of Structural Integrators.
